Shortly after 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, Avon High School in Hartford County was forced to evacuate, police said, when there was a report of the odor of natural gas in the building.
The building was temporarily evacuated by first responders, and firefighters ultimately determined that the cause of the odor was from the school’s science classrooms.
Connecticut Natural Gas was called in to assist with determining the exact location and cause of the leak. No injuries or anyone falling ill has been reported.
